Crinkled pages that might have been tossed away by an untrained eye are kept safe.  Life painted and told in the beautiful song of his first language.  Some speak with words.  He has trained the swirl of the sounds and whispers he first heard as he slept between two worlds in the safety of my belly.  They cover pages with words from the heart.  They bring laughter with their unfiltered look.  He has a gift.  He could just tell us but this will do just fine.  Fine for now.  Fine forever.

Introductions

aEC Estela Latina Blogger

Later today, the first of what I hope to be a great many years of official introductions to my favorite bloggers and artists.

Seeing the 2 year anniversary mark for this blog took me back to the reason I started blogging…guess what?   It is completely different from the reason I continue to blog.

Starting today, I will choose one fellow blogger or artist to spotlight on my blog.  I was introduced into a supportive and caring world of strangers on that first day on WordPress– not what I expected after hearing all of the horror stories of trolls and bullies that haunt too many pages.

I keep blogging because of you my friends.  I’m captivated by your stories and warmth.

Stay tuned.

Autism Tales: Pokemon Rip Off

Gustavo has autism.  When he was first diagnosed, we didn’t know what to expect.  Once people would find out that Gustavo had autism they would ask things like, “Is it true they don’t like to be around people?”  Sometimes they would react as if I told them my son was gravely ill and close to death.

Gustavo is intelligent.  He has a wonderful sense of humor–  he has sharp wit but because he has autism I think most people miss it.  I love watching him open a new box of Pokemon cards.  He loves Pokemon.  He gets annoyed with me when I pronounce the names wrong.  It’s hilarious how he corrects me–  he’s serious and means business.  He also gets annoyed if I ask him to show me how to play.  I think he knows it’s too complicated for me and usually just waves his finger like he’s saying “no, no.”

He speaks but sometimes it can be hard to understand.  He was speaking in a regular voice before I started this video but once he saw I was recording he started whispering–  who knows why.  Here is first look at Gustavo’s YouTube debut–  Pokemon Rip Off.
